A woman who began experiencing problems with her car’s CarPlay after the latest iPhone update shared a simple solution to the issue.
Content creator Charly posted a video on her TikTok profile explaining that she started having problems with her car’s CarPlay after updating her iPhone to iOS 26.
“If you have an iPhone and your CarPlay stopped working after the latest update, you need a data cable,” she said while showing the cable in question.
Although it looks like a regular USB-C cable, she emphasized that it is not: “We tried every USB-C cable we could, and then we got a data cable and now CarPlay works like a dream.”
Even though they look the same, the website Anker explained the differences between a USB-C cable and a data cable: while some USB-C cables are only for charging, a data cable is specifically used to transfer information.
In the comments, users thanked Charly for the tip but also took the opportunity to complain about the iPhone update. “It’s like Apple tells you over and over that they hate you, and you still come back,” one TikTok user said.
“Good thing my car is too old for CarPlay,” joked another. “So we didn’t need a data cable before and now we do?” complained a third user. “Good thing I’m still on iOS 18,” wrote another.
